Sports Physicals

What is a Pre-Participate Examination (PPE)?

California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) requires that a student receive an annual physical examination, (including an updated Health History), to be conducted by a medical practitioner certifying that the student is physically fit to particpate in athletics. Physicals must be completed by a medical practitioner licensed in the State of California.

How long is the PPE valid?

A physical is valid for one year from date of examination and must remain current for the entire duration of the sports season the athlete participates in. Forms may not be re-dated, a new form/examination and health history must be completed annually.
