Checklist for Class of 2029:
Students, with their adults, should complete each step as they prepare for high school. Our Course Selection website has all the resources, videos, handouts, and newsletters that can help answer your questions.
Start here!
- Students and their adults should review the Westview Course Registration Newsletter for 9th Graders to begin to understand:
- 4x4 schedule: Students complete 6-8 courses per year, split between two terms (Term 1: August - January, Term 2: January - June)
- Watch the presentation on creating a balanced schedule
- Use the Course Information website to learn more about classes offered
- Understand PUSD graduation requirements and CSU/UC requirements
- Review suggested paths for english, math, science, college & career technical education (CTE), and suggested electives for 9th graders
- Preview sample 4-year plans to see what best fits your interests and academic support options
- Consider taking an Off Roll (a period without a class) for athletics, personal or family obligations or to balance a rigorous schedule
2. Review the Class of 2029 Presentation, which will be posted after the presentations are completed at the middle schools, and the packet of resources distributed during the high school counselor visit to Mesa Verde and Black Mountain Middle Schools. The packet includes: Welcome Letter, 9th grade Course Request Worksheet, blank copy of the 4-year plan, and Course Offerings for 2025-2026 (all documents can be found HERE)
3.Fill out the 9th grade Course Request Worksheet. Your middle school teacher may ask you to turn this in.
4.Use the step by step instructions to register for classes online via Synergy/StudentVue before the deadline of March 21, 2025.
