College Courses

Dual Enrollment involves college courses offered directly at Westview, taught by Palomar instructors. These courses are part of a College and Career Access Pathway (CCAP) partnership and allow students to earn both high school and college credits at no cost. This program includes structured pathways, effective instruction, and comprehensive student support, including academic counseling and access to Palomar resources. For more information on Dual Enrollment, view the Steps for Dual Enrollment.

Concurrent Enrollment allows high school students to take college courses at their own discretion. Students must submit a K12 Special Admit form to Admissions and register for courses directly with the college of their choice.  While textbooks and some fees are the student’s responsibility, tuition is waived. For more information on Concurrent Enrollment, view the Steps for Concurrent Enrollment.

Things to Consider Before Taking a College Course

  • Students/Parents/Guardians should be aware that: Students will be required to complete the annual Sexual Assault Prevention for Community Colleges online training. This training is required for all community college students in California under AB 2683 and AB 2608. Grades: They become part of your official college record.
  • Impact on Financial Aid: Failing a class could negatively affect future financial aid.
  • Transferability: Not all courses are transferable to every four-year university.
  • College Expectations: Adjusting to college-level content and faculty expectations may be challenging.
  • Privacy (FERPA): As a college student, parents cannot speak to professors directly regarding your academic matters.
  • Disability Accommodations: If you have a disability or an IEP/504 Plan, visit the college’s Disability Resource Center to discuss eligibility and accommodations.
