Attendance

Compulsory attendance laws require that parents send their children to school. The law further states that a student must attend every scheduled session of every class, even if failure is imminent. The law applies to all students until they reach 18 years old. Once a student becomes 18 years old, they become a guest at Westview and can be withdrawn from school if their academic progress, attendance, or behavior is not acceptable.

Absences will be marked as unverified truancy if not excused within 72 hours.

Attendance Hotline at (858) 780-2020
Option 1: Student has an appointment
Option 2: All day absence and other attendance issues

Note: If your student has a medical appointment (i.e. doctor, physical therapy, dentist, orthodontist, etc.), please provide a medical excuse from the Health Care Provider.
In order to medically excuse your student's absence or tardy, the State of California requires verification from your health care provider. Medically excused absences are coded differently than regular excuses. Please ask the health care provider for a note for school before leaving the medical or dental office. Bring the note to the Attendance Window so we can update your attendance.
Students may bring note to the Attendance Window upon arrival on-campus or scan and email to [email protected] for our records.
