Assembly Bill 104
Assembly Bill 104 (AB 104), allows parents to opt for changes in a student’s grading option from a letter grade to Pass/No Mark for the 2020-2021 school year only. The PUSD Grade Change Form for Pass/No Mark request is available by clicking here. We recommend having a conversation with your student’s counselor prior to submitting a request to change your student’s grading option under AB 104 as there may be ramifications that could affect college admissions. Other options offered under AB 104 include allowing students to repeat their grade level and allowing high school juniors and seniors to request an exemption from certain graduation requirements. While these options won’t be appropriate for every student, they may provide an opportunity for some students to catch up. Given the 4x4 and our PUSD Alternative Programs, students are more easily able to remediate and make up credits without having to be retained or repeat a grade level.
